Graduate

General Information

The first admission of students to BHOS master's program was held in the 2017/2018 academic year in Oil and Gas Engineering, Field Assessment and Management. Oil and gas engineering is taught on the basis of a program offered by Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom. In order to train highly qualified, professional specialists and researchers in the field of engineering, the program develops analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills of master students.

Research internships are organized in the fields of oil and gas engineering, which are directly related to the latest technologies, and master students are prepared to continue their doctoral studies in oil and gas engineering. The university is exploring areas in need of research in the energy sector. Negotiations are underway with a number of leading companies specializing in this field, who are actively involved in the establishment of research centers and laboratories at BHOS.

The master program in assessment and management trains researchers and geological engineers who can build models that will provide students with accurate forecasting of the development of oil and gas fields. Most decisions on oilfield development are made in oil companies based on forecasting based on computer models of layers. Therefore, provides BHOS teaches master students the most effective ways of synthesis of geology, geophysics and stratified engineering for construction and management of computer models that provide the most successful forecasting.

Curricula for these specializations include lectures, field trips, group projects, and individual projects.

Learning outcomes

  • Create new knowledge, establish communications and conduct research for the development of society
  • Ability to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems by applying the principles of engineering, science and mathematics
  • Ability to work in disciplined teams
  • Understanding professional and ethical responsibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge to produce solutions that meet specific needs, taking into account public health, safety and well-being, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors

Laboratories

There are laboratories equipped with computer programs in the field of oil and gas engineering, field assessment and management. Equipped with oil and gas field application and modeling laboratories using Eclipse, Petrel, Python programs.

Laboratory classes are conducted in those laboratories on the basis of the programs according to the curricula.

Partners

BHOSE closely cooperates with industries. The university has significant experience in manpower development both nationally and internationally. The Petroleum Engineering Department actively cooperates with many large oil and gas companies of the country, involving them in the development of curricula for educational programs, the organization of student internships and employment of graduates. Students of the department are active members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Experienced specialists from SOCAR, BP, TOTAL, Halliburton, Schlumberger regularly organize lectures and trainings for BHOS students on topics related to the extraction, transportation and refining of oil and gas. The companies are also involved in organizing internship programs for senior students of the university during the academic year. Graduates, who are always in demand in the labor market, successfully meet the needs of employers in the oil and gas industry.
