International Short-Term Programs

  • SILKWAY summer school

The SILKWAY Network is an international collaboration of universities and non-academic partners from Europe and Asia, coordinated by the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) and the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The network was officially inaugurated on March 26, 2022, at the EXPO Italy Pavilion in Dubai.

The initiative aims to promote cooperation across cultures and disciplines by supporting research, training, and knowledge dissemination through joint activities involving academia, business, and civil society.

One of the key activities of the network is the organization of Green Energy Management (GEM) Summer Schools, which focus on renewable energy management and energy transition. These programs bring together international and multidisciplinary perspectives, with particular attention to developments in Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia.

Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) became a full member of the SILKWAY Network after hosting the GEM Summer School in 2019. Since then, Professor Siyavush Azakov from the BHOS Department of Petroleum Engineering has regularly contributed to GEM-SILKWAY Summer Schools as a lecturer held in various European and Asian countries.

  • China Summer School 2023

In 2023, Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), with the support of SOCAR, implemented the international summer program “Sustainable Energy for a Sustainable Future” for Chinese students.

The program brought together 17 students from various universities in China, Chinese students studying at BHOS, representatives of Azerbaijani universities, and participants from the industrial sector. During the four-day program, training sessions were delivered on green energy, energy policy, artificial intelligence, innovation, and Azerbaijan’s energy transformation.

The summer school also contributed to strengthening academic cooperation between BHOS and Chinese universities, promoting student exchange, and expanding opportunities for cultural exchange.

  • DAAD Summer School
  • DAAD Summer School: “Energy Transition in Oil-Producing Countries”

Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS) has implemented the international DAAD Summer School titled “Energy Transition in Oil-Producing Countries” with the financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The two-week program brought together 16 students from leading German universities and focused on key aspects of energy transition in oil-producing countries. Participants attended lectures and seminars delivered by BHOS faculty members and industry experts, covering topics such as Azerbaijan’s energy policy, renewable energy, climate change, digitalization, and geothermal energy.

As part of the program, students visited SOCAR and bp and took part in cultural excursions introducing them to Azerbaijan’s historical heritage and national values.

The Summer School contributed to strengthening academic cooperation between BHOS and German higher education institutions and promoted international dialogue on sustainable energy and energy transition. Upon completion of the program, participants were awarded certificates.
