Session of Synergy Scientific Discussion Club at BHOS
Another session of Synergy Scientific Discussions Club of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) took place at BHOS. Dedicated to one of the most serious challenges facing the humankind today, which the world energy supply, the event gathered the Higher School teachers, students and staff members. The Club’s Scientific Coordinator, Professor of the BHOS Petroleum Engineering Department Fuad Valiyev made a report entitled “Global Energy Problem and Ecological Footprint”.
In his report, the professor touched upon global issues related to the world’s population growth, increased energy consumption and their implications including, among others, ecological problems, climate change, depletion of energy resources, land degradation and shortage of drinking water. He emphasized that these processes either are already seen today or may be observed in the nearest decades. “We have to admit the fact that Earth may cease to be a self-sustainable planet. The good news is that it is not late to prevent a global catastrophe and take the path of sustainable development”, said Fuad Veliyev. In his words, it is vital to adjust consumption of energy resources to the levels compatible with ecological system of Earth. The report was followed by a discussion, and questions and answers session.
BHOS Synergy Scientific Discussions Club set up upon initiative of Prof. Fuad Valiyev aims at informing students, young scientists, lecturers and specialists on new achievements, current challenges and perspectives of development in various scientific fields. The club sessions encourage the attendants to participate in scientific and research work and helps them to improve their discussion, presentation and oratorical skills.
