On October 16, 2014, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) held the training session on Student Safety in Focus in Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) with the support of Baku Regional Center and Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations Union (ASYOU).

Making an opening speech and welcoming the Mr. Elmar Gasimov, the Rector of BHOS, expressed his hope that the training session jointly organized by BHOS, MES and ASYOU would contribute to teaching the students all the necessary emergency response actions and help them prevent potential accidents or their consequences. He also emphasized the importance of being well-informed about how to respond to potential emergency and to take protective and safety measures in case of any potential accidents during the learning process.

Colonel Elshan Aliyev, First Deputy Head of MES Baku Regional Center, made a presentation providing the attendees with detailed information about the emergency cases, their classification and characteristics, emergency response actions and safety measures to be taken when using domestic gas appliances or in case of spillage of toxic substances, etc.

The training sessions, both theoretical and practical, were attended by BHOS management and teaching staff, Mr. Khalik Mammadov, SOCAR Vice President, General-Major Niyazi Zamanov, Head of the MES Department for the Elimination of Emergency Cases Consequences, adinistrative staff and employees of MES Baku Regional Center, as well as the representatives from 7 MES departments and Emergencies, media representatives and students.

The practical part of training session comprised special tactical measures taken by application of MES special-purpose rescue techniques and tools and equipment with participation of the representatives of MES departments, other special-purpose rescue forces and service providers, as well as BHOS teaching staff and students.

Students demonstrated great interest in various simulations of rescue operations.

At the end of the event Mr. Gasimov expressed his gratitude to the attendees and supporters for helping to organize such an important training session.
