The round table to commemorate the 24th anniversary of Khojali genocide held at BHOS
The round table to commemorate the 24th anniversary of Khojali genocide was held at BHOS. Professor Ramiz Humbatov, BHOS vice rector for Education, Training and International relations, Rashad Hasanov, vice rector for general affairs, BHOS lecturers and students participated at the meeting. First the victims of the tragedy were commemorated with minute of silence.
Opening the round table Professor Ramiz Humbatov stressed that Khojali genocide was the cruelest crime of XX century committed by Armenians which would never be forgotten. He stated that the main goal of the round table was to inform students about the truth connected with Khojali tragedy in order to further bring this message to the global community as a part of their duties as citizens of Azerbaijan. Professor Ramiz Humbatov said that the said truth about Khojali tragedy and the facts being carved in his own memory were only a part of grave crimes committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani nation. Vice rector called students to make their own contribution in informing global community about atrocity committed by Armenians their aggressive policy, the truth about Khojali and punishment of everyone involved in the above mentioned acts. Professor Ramiz Humbatov expressed his confidence that Khojali genocide would gain international recognition and everyone who committed this crime would get legal accusation owing to far-sighted policy of President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev and strong will of Azerbaijani nation.
BHOS associate professor, PhD in history Elamdar Shahverdiyev in his speech talked about historical facts connected with Khojali genocide. He stressed that this initially planned crime committed by Armenians against humanity turned out to be the gravest one.
In 1992 during night between February 25 and 26 Armenian military forces backed by 366 motor rifle regiment conquered Khojali town devastated it and leveled it to the ground. During the same night hundreds of civilians of Khojali were brutally killed, taken hostage. Still some of them are missing.
BHOS second year student studying process automation engineering Ramziyya Qarazade, first year student from process automation engineering specialization Fardin Vatani and second year student representing chemical engineering specialization Azer Tapdigzade made presentations during the meeting. Students demonstrated striking photos and videos reflecting Khojali tragedy. They gave tribute to Chingiz Mustafayev, National hero of Azerbaijan, who recorded the terrible scenes after the massacre that took place at night between February 25 and 26, 1992.
In conclusion BHOS rector for general affairs Rashad Hasanov stated that Azerbaijan needed well educated youth who would highly value national values in order to spread the historical truth about our country in the name of the unity of Azerbaijan.
