Delegation led by Minister of Higher Education and Training of Republic of South Africa visits Baku Higher Oil School

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training of the Republic of South Africa (RSA), Ms. Nomusa Dube-Ncube, visited the Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) of SOCAR as part of their visit to Azerbaijan.

BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov provided the guests with detailed information about Baku Higher Oil School, the opportunities created at the university, the educational process, and the projects implemented. The Rector emphasized that “the international ties of Baku Higher Oil School have expanded, and the number of foreign students studying at the university has significantly increased.” Elmar Gasimov invited students from the RSA to study at BHOS.

The South African Deputy Minister, in turn, provided information on the country's higher education system and the in-demand fields in the labor market. He emphasized that “the Ministry of Higher Education and Training of the Republic of South Africa is interested in fostering international cooperation between universities in the RSA and Azerbaijan.”

The sides also discussed the prospects for cooperation between South African universities and BHOS, including the opportunities for implementing student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and summer schools.

After the meeting, the guests were toured around the main campus building of BHOS and got acquainted with the laboratories of the university.
