Winners of Science Olympiad awarded at BHOS
Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) has hosted the ceremony of awarding the winners of the II Baku Science Olympiad, held among students of general educational institutions in Baku on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event was attended by Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Science and Education Matin Karimli, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education Nigar Bagirli, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov, MPs, Head of Baku City Education Department Mehriban Veliyeva, Deputy Head of the General and Preschool Education Department of the Ministry of Science and Education Orkhan Abbasov, Head of the General Education Organization and Management Sector of the Ministry of Science and Education Fuad Garayev, Chairwoman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Science and Education Gunel Safarova, heads of the relevant structural subdivisions of Baku City Education Department, school directors, students, parents and other guests.
The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then the participants of the event watched a video dedicated to the II Baku Science Olympiad.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Science and Education Matin Karimli said that it is important to early identify talented students, constantly encourage them, increase their interest in creativity and science, improve their theoretical and practical knowledge, and ensure the participation of these students in international and local Olympiads and competitions. In his speech, he highly praised the holding of Olympiads and competitions for these purposes. The representative of the ministry noted that the winners of the Olympiad are happy young citizens of their Motherland, which, through the efforts of the victorious Commander-in-Chief and the courageous Azerbaijani Army, liberated its lands from the enemy. At the end of his speech, Matin Karimli congratulated the winners of the Olympiad and wished them further success.
Speaking at the event, Head of Baku City Education Department Mehriban Veliyeva noted that the II Baku Science Olympiad is the most valuable contribution of schoolchildren to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, who always cared about the cultivation of highly educated, literate and intellectually developed Azerbaijani youth. She stressed the importance of teaching schoolchildren the knowledge and skills of the 21st century and supporting them to succeed. Mehriban Veliyeva said that the Olympiad was organized to further increase students' interest in natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology), improve their theoretical and practical knowledge in these areas, create conditions for the development of practical and creative skills of students and identify talented young people. She thanked the BHOS management and staff for their support in holding the Olympiad.
Speaking at the ceremony, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov said that such Olympiads help students improve their knowledge and skills and increase their motivation to study. The rector said that the organization of the Olympiad, which is being held for the second time, will become a tradition. At the end of his speech, Elmar Gasimov wished the winners further success.
Then medals, diplomas and gifts were awarded to students who took first, second and third places in the Olympiad. Additionally, cups and diplomas were awarded to the teams of the Turkish Lyceum Türkiyə Dəyanət Vəqfi-Bakı and Secondary School No. 129, which won first place, the teams of the Republican Lyceum with a chemical and biological bias and Secondary School No.192, which took second place, the teams of the Republican Lyceum with a bias in physics, mathematics and informatics and "Zekalar" lyceum № 287 , which took third place.
The event continued with literary and artistic compositions performed by students.
It should be noted that 960 students from 320 general educational institutions took part in the first stage of the II Baku Science Olympiad. 24 teams made it to the final. Each team was represented by 3 students.\
