‘Hakari’ team of BHOS wins two competitions at Teknofest

The “Hakari” team of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) took third places in the "Agrarian technologies" and "Socially oriented technologies" competitions held as part of Turkey’s largest Aerospace and Technology Festival, which took place for the first time in Azerbaijan.

Elshan Mikayilov is a mentor of the “Hakari” team and Ilkin Balazade is a consultant of this team, which consists of 3 students of the Chemical Engineering Department and 2 students of the Process Automation Department.

The "Smart Irrigation System" project presented by the team to the "Agrarian Technologies" competition carries out irrigation when the humidity in the soil decreases by sending information to the system through moisture-measuring sensors and starting the pump powered by solar or wind energy. Thus, the system saves water and facilitates the work of farmers with the use of "Green energy". Another project presented by the team is a secure online platform through which documents or medicine can be sent abroad within 24 hours.

Javid Isayev is the captain of the “Hakari” team. He is a 4th year student of the Chemical Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School. He has a great interest in the field of alternative energy sources. Javid says that he spent about 2-3 weeks of the 4-month preparation process with the team to find solutions for water scarcity and energy security problems and to refine their ideas. “As a team, we learned what stages to go through and how to work to turn an idea into a real prototype. Although the team members had experiences in different fields, we did most of the tasks together, and by the end of the competition, everyone had acquired knowledge related to other specialties. In addition, during the competition, we met new people with bright minds, full of ideas, and we even plan to combine our projects with the project of the team that we met at Teknofest to bring out better quality work."

Farid Gahramanov is a fourth-year student of the Chemical Engineering Department. Farid says that Teknofest has taught them to be patient, to work as a team, and to solve problems. He notes that the joy of winning and meeting new people are among the benefits of Teknofest.

Sona Mehdizade is a 4th year student of the Process Automation Engineering Department. Sona, who carried out technical work for the project, says that Teknofest gave her great experience, including teamwork and time management skills. “After Teknofest, I set a goal to work harder to implement useful projects for our country."

Leyla Osmanova is a fourth-year student of the Chemical Engineering Department. Leyla, who carried out research work for the project, says that Teknofest created an opportunity to meet new people and develop communication and social skills. The team member who took part in the competition of such a scale for the first time notes that the success they gained has increased her belief that hard work and determination pays off.

Leman Hasanli is a 4th year student of the Process Automation Engineering Department. Noting that participation in Teknofest is an interesting process, the team member says that their projects will benefit people. “The festival has benefited me in terms of self-development, working with a team and meeting new people.”
