Below is an interview with the successful BHOS graduate and employee.
- Aytaj, you were one of the active students of BHOS. What can you tell us about the social activities in which you took part and the successes that you achieved during your student years?
- In 2021, I entered the "Machine Learning" program of the Innovation Center of the International Bank of Azerbaijan with a scholarship from BP and graduated from it with honors. I have participated in all projects implemented at the Innovation Center in order to gain experience, and I continue to do so. I was awarded the 1st place in the “Public Leaderboard” section of the “Optimization of Bank Products” competition organized by students and graduates of the Innovation Center of the International Bank of Azerbaijan. The model that I built using “Machine Learning” and “Deep Learning” methods won the 1st place in the competition organized by the center on the topic “Analysis of clothing product reviews”. The “Machine Learning” model that I developed took the 2nd place in the “Estimation of Credit Default Probability” competition. At the 2nd International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Researchers dedicated to the 98th anniversary of the birth of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, I won the 2nd place with the project "Automatic detection of cracks on surfaces using drones". Also, at this year's conference, I was awarded 2nd place for the project “More accurate detection of credit card frauds using various Machine and Deep Learning techniques”.
- What has BHOS brought you?
- Baku Higher Oil School gave me the ability to think like a process automation engineer. During the 5 years of my studies, I enquired solid professional knowledge and skills. BHOS also helped me develop my social skills. Participation in various trainings held at the university helped me specify my field of interest and taught me to think more broadly. I had the chance to represent our university at the 2nd Robot Olympiad held in our country. The experience that I gained at Baku Higher Oil School gave me the opportunity to earn various specialty certificates from highly rated universities such as the University of California, the University of Michigan, the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of New South Wales, the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne and other famous higher education institutions.
- Why did you choose to work at BHOS?
- I am sure that the work environment at Baku Higher Oil School will be as good as the academic environment. I am proud to work as a teacher at the university where I was a student. I also received a job offer from an industrial company, but I chose to work at Baku Higher Oil School because I thought that there was a very good environment here to start my career.
