BHOS teacher appointed to senior position
Elvin Ahmadov, a teacher at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences, has been appointed Vice-President of Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists (ASPG) by the decision of the ASPG Board. He also heads the Modeling and Production Forecasting Department of Azneft PU.
Elvin Ahmadov graduated with honors from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Oil and Gas Geology, and in 2009 - with a master's degree in Offshore Oil and Gas Geology. He is a geological engineer. He has been a Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences since 2017. In 2018, Elvin Ahmadov completed the U.S. George Washington University’s master degree program in Project Management at BHOS. He twice participated in layering engineering and management trainings organized in different cities of Japan in 2017 and 2019, and received an international certificate. As of 2021, he has been lecturing on Oil Assessment, Oil and Gas Field Development, Oil and Gas Well Completion and Energy Geopolitics at the Petroleum Engineering Department of BHOS. Elvin Ahmadov is also an active participating member of the Oil and Gas Division of Alison Learning Centre in Ireland. He is the author of more than 80 scientific works. He has about 15 years of experience in the oil industry and was awarded an Honorary Certificate by SOCAR’s management in 2016 for “special services in the development of the country's oil and gas industry”.
It is worth noting that the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists, which was founded in 1993, is the only society that unites Azerbaijani geologists around the earth sciences. Since its establishment, the ASPG has been engaged in organizing international and national scientific and technical conferences, publishing the scientific journal “Azerbaijan Geologist”, sending young geologists to study abroad, sharing geological knowledge with science and industry institutions. Prominent geologists of Azerbaijan have been heading the Society over these years.
