96 of BHOS students who completed the first year course passed to the second year course
Students of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Chemical Engineering Department, Process Automation Engineering Department, Information Security Department of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) who completed the first year (Foundation Course) passed the IELTS exam conducted by the British Council to continue their education at BHOS in the next academic year.
In total, 96% of the Higher School’s first-year students successfully passed the IELTS exam and final exams, gaining a passing score in the English language subject. (Note that BHOS students start learning specialized subjects only after they successfully pass the foreign language exam).
In this connection, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov held an online meeting with the first-year students, their teachers and parents.
Congratulating the students and their parents on the successful results, the rector said that in the 2019-2020 academic year, 187 students took intensive courses in English language and information technology.
“184 of them passed the IELTS test conducted by the British Council or internal exams organized by BHOS. Six of the students who passed the IELTS exam scored 8.0 points each, 22 students scored 7.5 points each, 36 students - 7.0 points, 55 students - 6.5 points and 43 students - 6.0 points. The students Aysu Zamanova, Farman Ahmedov, Asmar Hajizade, Javidan Zeynalov, Iskender Iskenderov and Rustam Khabibullayev scored 8.0 points each.”
The rector noted that the students Asmar Hajizade, Iskender Iskenderov and Rustam Khabibullayev, who scored high points in the exams, are presidential scholars.
Elmar Gasimov also noted that out of the 28 students who passed the final exam organized by the Center for English Language and Humanities, 1 student scored 7.5 points, 5 students - 7 points, 8 students - 6.5 points and 4 students - 6 points.
Noting that only seven students failed the exams, the rector thanked the management and teachers of the Center for English Language and Humanities for the successful results and efforts they made to achieve this success.
Speaking at the meeting, Head of the Center for English Language and Humanities Asif Gojayev touched upon the issues related to the training process in the Preparatory (Foundation) Course, the examination process, attendance and other issues.
Speaking at the meeting, students and parents expressed their gratitude to the leadership and teaching staff of the Higher School for the quality education provided to students, favorable conditions created at the school, and the attention and care shown to students.
Note that BHOS students intensively learn English language during the first year of their study at the Higher School. At the end of the academic year, BHOS students must pass the IELTS exam or the internal final exam in order for them to advance to the next course.
