Students of Baku Higher Oil School participate in Huaweis global student exchange program Seeds for the Future
Two students of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) took part in the global, advanced ICT student exchange program titled “Seeds for the Future”, which is organized by the Chinese company Huawei.
As part of the two-week program, a second-year student of the Information Security Department of BHOS, Tapdig Maharramli, and a fourth-year student of the Process Automation Engineering Department of BHOS, Farid Hamidov, together with the other selected students, visited the cities of Beijing and Shenzhen.
During the first week of the program, students attended courses on the basics of the Chinese language and calligraphy in the capital city of China, Beijing. Then they visited the historical monuments of the city.
The students spent the second week on the Huawei campus in Shenzhen. They also participated in lectures on the topics: “Mobile Network”, “Fixed Network”, “Internet of Things” and “4G/5G Technology”, held in the building of Huawei University, which is also called Huawei Training Center.
The students spent the last two days of the program in the laboratory for configuration of 4G and 5G stations, where they underwent practical training.
Also, within the program, the students were given the opportunity to establish contacts with leading ICT students.
Throughout the trip, the students were accompanied by tourist guides and program managers. All travelling, board and lodging expenses were covered by the program.
In September this year, Huawei announced a competition for participation in the global, advanced ICT student exchange program titled “Seeds for the Future”.
To take part in the program, the students had to write an essay on ICT consisting of 500 words and make a 2-minute video presentation about themselves.
The selected 10 students gained the right to travel to China for two weeks to acquire new knowledge and skills in the field of ICT.
Huawei is a Chinese private transnational company specializing in the production of telecommunication equipment, electronics, artificial intelligence, and technology services and products.
In 2008, the global, advanced ICT student exchange program titled “Seeds for the Future” was launched at the initiative of Huawei. More than 30,000 students from 350 universities around the world have so far participated in this program.
