BHOS students hold practical presentations within MBA program
Within the framework of the program of the Center for Business Education (MBA) of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS), students held practical presentations on the Financial Management subject. BHOS students prepared these presentations as homework assigned to them by the center.
Head of KT-Kinetics Technology’s representative office in Azerbaijan, Niccolò Heilpern, who teaches the Financial Management module at Baku Higher Oil School, stressed that such assignments contribute to improving business skills, critical thinking, social skills, leadership skills and other abilities of MBA students.
Within the module, Niccolò Heilpern discussed with students methods for conducting economic and financial analyzes in different companies, as well as ways to apply the results of these analyzes.
In accordance with the assignment, students were divided into mini-groups of 4-5 people. Each of these mini-groups had to choose a company and conduct economic, financial and marketing analyzes of this company, as well as a SWOT analysis and analysis of the performance of competitor companies.
Then, each of these teams had to prepare a presentation based on the results of the analysis.
The teams held their presentations in an unusual manner. For example, the team that chose the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis built a mini-laboratory and gave a presentation wearing Schlumberger’s working cloths. The students wore white robes and hard hats.
Niccolò Heilpern noted that such practical methods allow students to accustom themselves to field conditions and that thanks to this approach, students can easily notice their mistakes and draw proper conclusions.
The Center for Business Education (MBA) of Baku Higher Oil School operates under the slogan "Learning management from managers". The mission of the center is to train highly qualified, competitive managers around the world. The innovative MBA program offered by the BHOS meets current challenges and trends. The teachers of the program are senior employees of SOCAR and other multinational companies.
