      On April 30, a ceremonial event was held at Baku Higher Oil School to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism.  

      Valeh Alasgarov, the Deputy Chairman of Milli Majlis, Rovnag Abdullayev, the SOCAR President, Arif Alishov, the Director of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Programmes JSC, Baba Rzayev, the Director of Azerishig OSC, Ziyad Samedzade, Chairman of the Committee for Economic Policy at Milli Majlis, as well as other authorities attended the event where Rector Elmar Gasimov welcomed the guests and congratulated them on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory. Underlying the fact that during the Great Patriotic War, the population of Azerbaijan constituted some 7 million people and over 700 thousand of them went to the war, while the number of the fallen ones was above 300 thousand. This number totaled some 10% of the population.  

       SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev extended his congratulations to the veterans briefing about the heroism and courage of Azerbaijanis demonstrated during the war. He emphasized the event as an important one contributing greatly to foster patriotism in young people having a chance of interacting with the veterans who can share their experience and memories with them.

      The speeches were followed by demonstration of the film dedicated to the 95^th anniversary of Abdulahga Javadov, a well-known oil worker and veteran of the Great Patriotic War, who then was invited to the stage where he shared his battle memories and thanked the SOCAR management for their care.
