General Information

The Information Security Department was established at BHOS in 2018. The curriculum was developed by the faculty of the department based on the analysis of the curricula of leading universities in the United States and Europe. Nowadays, as most information is stored in the digital environment, the popularity of cybersecurity information security is growing. The information security specialist ensures the confidentiality of information on users and the company, takes measures to prevent data leakage, regularly analyzes the state of the local network, eliminates vulnerabilities and creates a system that prevents cyber attacks. Given that digital technologies are applied in all areas, the demand for this specialty is high.

  • Engage in continuous professional development through independent learning, research, and certification activities to adapt to emerging technologies and evolving security challenges.

Laboratories

The computer network laboratory is equipped by SOCAR. In this laboratory, students majoring in information security learn the basics of networks, network programming and security.

Experience and career opportunities

In order to prepare students for real working conditions, to get them acquainted with the equipment operating in the real working environment, on-the-job training is organised for 4th and 5th year students. After four years of internships, 5th year students and 2nd year master students undertake a 10-week research internship in order for them to prepare graduation works and gather materials for dissertations. This experience increases their research potential and, therefore, plays an important role in building their future careers.
