BHOS will train specialists for Vietnam
Delegation led by Tu Thanh Nghia, the General Director of VIETSOVPETRO Joint Venture visited Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) by invitation of Rector Elmar Gasimov. Before visiting the Higher School the guests paid tribute to the Memorial of National Leader Haydar Aliyev at the Alley Honour and visited the Martyrs Lane.
Welcoming the guests Rector Elmar Gasimov expressed his pleasure to host the delegation led by General Director Tu Thanh Nghia at BHOS. Mr. Gasimov briefed about the history of the relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam. Recalling the visit of the government delegation led by National Leader Haydar Aliyev, who then used to be the member of the Political Bureau of the Soviet Union Communist Party Central Committee and the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Ministers Council, to Vietnam in 1983, he underlined Haydar Aliyev’s role in supporting the Vietnamese nation in the post-war restoration and reconstruction processes. The Rector also emphasized the mutual educational relations established by National Leader Haydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He also underlined the significance of President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam on May 18, 2014 which paved the way for further collaboration perspectives adding that the cooperation between BHOS and VIETSOVPETRO was a logical continuation of the new phase of cooperation which would include training of highly qualified specialists in undergraduate and graduate levels, filed visit opportunities for BHOS student in Vietnam, study opportunities for Vietnamese students at BHOS, in-service training, joint scientific research and retraining courses.
Tu Thanh Nghia, the General Director of VIETSOVPETRO expressed his pleasure of visiting Azerbaijan and BHOS and thanked Mr. Gasimov for his invitation. He mentioned that they always remember Haydar Aliyev’s special care for the Vietnamese people and underlined his unique role in study opportunities for the students from Vietnam adding the fact that he was also among those students who became petroleum engineers thanks to education in Azerbaijan. Mr. Nghia expressed his belief in the success of the collaboration between the two institutions. He highly appreciated the signed MOU and expressed his company’s pride of having the cooperation with such a well-recognized higher educational institution. Briefing about VIETSOVPETRO Mr.Nghia mentioned that the head office of the joint venture established in 1981 is located in Vung Tau. He emphasized that some 80% of Vietnam’s produced oil & gas comes from VIETSOVPETRO, the 5th largest national oil and gas company, bringing Vietnam to the 3rd ranking in oil production and export in South East Asia. With the help of cutting edge production and processing technologies the company recovers, treats and offloads over 1 million tons of oil per month. Mr. Nghia also informed that the joint venture consists of not only some departments, but also Scientific Research and Engineering Institute and Information Technologies and Communication Centre.
Khoshbakht Yusifzade, First Vice-President of SOCAR for Geology, Geophysics and Field Development talked about the history of Azerbaijani-Vietnamese relations which he witnessed step-by-step. Mr. Yusifzade underlined the incontrovertible help of Azerbaijani engineers, especially Jalal Mammadov, mainly because of the fact that Vietnam used to have challenges in terms of lack of the offshore drilling and production expertise and technologies. He also added that Azerbaijan had been involved in training of oil specialists for Vietnam and he was one of those who contributed to training of some 69 Vietnamese students. Mr. Yusifzade talked about the on-going relations between the two countries noting that he had been the member of the delegation during President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam in May 2014. He spoke about the meeting with the President of Vietnam and President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting with the students graduated from Azerbaijani higher educational institutions. He underlined that during the meeting President Ilham Aliyev offered new opportunities to train prospective oil specialists for Vietnam which in its turn gave a new impetus to the bilateral relations. He also expressed his pleasure of witnessing the MOU signing ceremony between BHOS and VIETSOVPETRO calling it a successful practical result of the proposal made by the President.
The event ended with the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between BHOS and VIESTOVPETRO.
Mr. Nghia was awarded the Honorary Guest Diploma on behalf of BHOS.
