Baku Higher Oil School teacher awarded Honorary Diploma
Associate Professor of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) Kamala Mehdiyeva is awarded a Honorary Diploma of BHOS. She received the award for staging a two-act comedy “The Tale of Monsieur Jordan the Botanist and the Celebrated Sorcerer, Dervish Mastali Shah” by a greatest Azerbaijani author Mirza Fatali Akhundzade, in which all roles are played by the Higher School students, at the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre. Stage Director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre, People’s Artist Marahim Farzalibekov was the art director of the performance; and Honored Worker of Culture of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Askerov was the production designer.
In 1990, Kamala Mehdiyeva graduated from Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (at present, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts) trained as film and theatre actress. Then she continued her education at the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music, and Cinematography (currently, St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy) with specialization in the field of stage speech.
“It was my choice to be a teacher. Of course, I could have become a dramatic actress, but I really wanted to teach, so I selected stage speech as my new profession. Although I have published several teaching aid manuals material, I am still learning and studying my field profession. My thesis was about expressive means in the actor's art,” says Kamala Mehdiyeva. In her words, BHOS students are very gifted, and it is a privilege to be a teacher of such talented young people.
