BHOS holds Renewable Energy Sources seminar

          Regular session within ongoing seminar “Renewable Energy Sources: Challenges and Prospects” was held at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS). The session gathered BHOS Vice-Rector for Training, Science and International Relations Ramiz Humbatov, Dean of Lifelong learning department Rena Mustafayeva, Director of Training and Research Centre on Renewable Energy Engineering Sanan Eminov, teachers and students. Representatives from Baku Engineering University and Azerbaijan National Aviation Academy as well as independent experts were invited to the event.

 

          At the session, a lecturer from the Baku Engineering University Etibar Gahramanov made a report entitled “Study of the Potential of Hybrid Renewable Energy Sources (solar, wind and biogas energy) in Azerbaijan by means of Geographic Information System (GIS).” He provided information about the GIS system, which is designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data, its role and usage in the projects in the field of Renewable Energy Sources (RES). Etibar Gahramanov emphasized that the Geographic Information System could and should be utilized in Azerbaijan as a tool to mitigate social and environmental implications of implementation of RES-related projects.

 

          The session concluded with question and answer session.

 

          The ongoing seminar “Renewable Energy Sources: Challenges and Prospects” at BHOS is led by Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics of BHOS’ Petroleum Engineering Department Prof. Siyavush Azakov. Topics of the workshop’s sessions cover, among others, issues related to global practice and appropriate technologies in usage of renewable energy resources, ecological, educational and social aspects of utilization of renewable energy resources in Azerbaijan and associated opportunities and challenges. Special attention at the seminar is focused on energy saving technologies.
