Our graduates shall always remember their alma mater, says Baku Higher Oil School teacher

Public Relations Department of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) starts a new media project entitled “I am teaching at BHOS”, which tells about the Higher School teachers. Today lecturer of BHOS Petroleum Engineering Department Samin Malik is answering our questions.

          – First question is a traditional one. Why have you chosen the teacher profession?

          – I have chosen this profession because I wanted to teach and work with young people. I believe that I have made a right choice. I like my job and think that I will never get tired of it.

          – Please tell about yourself. How did you start to work as a teacher?

          – I was born in Gandja. Both my parents have higher education and I studied hard to obtain higher education, too. I received a Bachelor degree in Mathematics from Baku State University and a Master degree in Pure Math and mathematical logic from Manchester University in Great Britain. Currently, I pursue a Ph.D. degree at the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences. At the same time, I am a lecturer at BHOS.

          – Every student has his or her best-loved teacher. Who was your best-loved teacher when you were a student?

          – I had several admired teachers. They were well disposed towards us, students, and managed to get us interested in studies. Our teachers set a good example for us.

          – Please tell us about your students. Who they are? How do you see their future?

          – I am lucky to work with my students. They are studying hard to gain more knowledge and to learn more about their future profession. It is a privilege to be a teacher of such students, and this makes my work interesting and meaningful. I am sure that they all have a bright future.

           – How do you envision the Baku Higher Oil School in ten years?

           – Our Higher School develops dynamically and constantly expands its scope of activities. I believe that in ten years BHOS will become one of the best universities in Europe. I am confident that the Higher School will continue to offer high quality education up to international standards, and the most talented young people will strive to study at BHOS. I also think that there will be new faculties and departments for studies in the most prestigious technical specialities.

            – What do you do in your leisure time?

            – I try to spend my free time with my family and friends, and I like practicing sports.

            – What would you wish the first graduates of the Baku Higher Oil School?

            – Graduates of the Baku Higher Oil School are highly qualified specialists and excellent professionals. I wish all of them a successful career and great achievements. I also wish them always remember the Baku Higher Oil School, their alma mater.
