BP workshop conducted at BHOS
A scheduled workshop held by BP-Azerbaijan at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) was conducted by the company Wells Rig Engineering team. At the beginning of the session, Professor of Petroleum Engineering Department Arif Mammadzade made an introductory speech. Then BP representatives, namely Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (AGT) Rig Engineering Manager Darren Wrack, Rig Engineer/Control System Afig Habibov, and Challenger Rig Engineer Ali Rasulzade made a presentation covering all aspects of drilling rigs operations for the projects operated by BP in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
“I am honored to deliver the presentation for the Higher School students, who are future managers and leading specialists of the oil and gas industry,” said Darren Wrack. Speaking about 25 years of BP’s successful work in Azerbaijan, he emphasized that, alongside bringing advanced technologies and up-to-date equipment, the company keeps safety of operations and professional development of Azerbaijani staff members as top priorities in its daily activities.
During the session, BHOS teachers and third-year Petroleum Engineering and Chemical Engineering students received information on issues related to rig systems and equipment; rig reliability and integrity; rig inspection, maintenance and upgrades; rig control and digital security systems; and modern-class drilling systems at platforms installed at Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Guneshli oil fields.
The workshop was concluded with questions and answers session.
