Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov made a presentation at a Scientific and Practical seminar on Plagiarism and Protection from Plagiarism held at Azerbaijan National Academy of Science. The presentation was entitled “Application of the plagiarism-prevention Turnitin system at the Baku Higher Oil School”. In his speech, Rector Elmar Gasimov informed that the Higher school led by him signed a cooperation agreement with Turnitin company to learn and utilize the company experience in prevention of, and protection from, plagiarism. He presented statistical data about the system and its capacity, dwelled on the problems of plagiarism in education and told about measures undertaken against plagiarism at the Baku Higher Oil School.

 

A specialist of Turnitin company Katya Levchenko, Professor of the Coventry University (Great Britain) Dr. Thomas Lancaster and Director of the Information Technologies Institute of the National Academy of Science, academic Rasim Aliguliyev also made presentations at the seminar.
