The first year foundation course graduates of the Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Process Automation Engineering programmes of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) sat IELTS examinations administered by British Council in order to be eligible to continue their studies in major disciplines the next year. The results revealed that 92% of the students have successfully passed the IELTS exams and will be eligible for further studies.

 

The score results of a total 113 students were as the following: 1 student - 8.5, 6 students -8.0, 13 students – 7.5, 33 students- 7.0, 31 students – 6.5, 23 students 6.0 IELTS band score.

 

So, 92% of the students successfully passed the required 6.0 band score (min. band score per section 5.5) in IELTS.

 

It is worth to note that BHOS students take an intensive language training course during the first year. This responsibility is undertaken by highly qualified teachers of the English Language and Humanitarian Disciplines Center established at BHOS in 2012. Using the most advanced teaching methodologies they ensure high quality training for the students. At the end of the foundation programme students successfully passing the IELTS exams continue their studies in the relevant major programme.
