Lecture Notes by Associated Professor of Baku Higher Oil School published in English

Lecture Notes on ‘Mathematics-1’ course by Khanim Jafarova, Associated Professor of Petroleum Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) were published in English. The Lecture Notes consisting of 150 pages were developed at BHOS and published by SOCAR Centralized Typography. The material was compiled for the Process Automation Engineering students, whose instruction language is English. They provide the main aspects of teaching Mathematics for students majoring in modern engineering. Such topics as functions and their different types, derivative and its applications, integral and its applications, complex numbers, linear algebra, the first order differential equations, the elements of probability and statistics were reflected in the mentioned Notes. The theoretical material is accompanied by detailed explanatory solution for specific problems.  The users can also refer to subject specific exercises presented at the end of every chapter, which enable them independently, approach the problem solution. Lecture Notes can also be used by students and lecturers of other higher education institutions that offer engineering programmes in English.

Mrs. Jafarova is Associated Professor of BHOS Petroleum Engineering Department. She graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics - Mathematics of Baku State University with distinction in 1995. She defended her PhD thesis ‘On the Solvability of the Operator –Differential Equations in Hilbert Space’ in 2002 and she was awarded the PhD degree in Mathematics.

Khanim Jafarova taught the Functional Analysis and Theory of Functions of Complex Variables courses, as well as Calculus, Applied Linear Algebra, Mathematics for Economists, Probability and Statistics at different universities of Azerbaijan.

Currently, she teaches ‘Mathematics for Engineers and Scientists’ course for Petroleum and Chemical Engineering students, and ‘Mathematics’ course for Process Automation Engineering students at Baku Higher Oil School.

Mrs. Jafarova is the author of more than 20 scientific articles and develops the teaching aids and study guides for the students of BHOS.
