BHOS Strengthens Collaboration with NGOs to Drive Sustainable Development (2024–2025)
The Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) actively collaborates with national and international NGOs to promote public health, youth development, leadership skills, and community engagement. These initiatives directly support SDG 3 (Health), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
1. Public Health Awareness – Anti-Drug Education Seminar
BHOS partnered with the Youth Anti-Drug Addiction Public Union to deliver an educational seminar focused on preventing substance abuse among young people. Experts highlighted the risks of narcotics, mental-health impacts, and early-intervention mechanisms.
BHOS integrates these seminars into its annual youth-wellbeing program, reaching both BHOS students and secondary school communities. The initiative strengthens preventive education and builds health resilience across the wider population. It also supports public sector–NGO collaboration in line with national youth-health strategies.

2. Youth Civic Engagement – ASYOU Report-Election Conference
BHOS leadership participated in the Azerbaijan Student Youth Organizations’ Union (ASYOU) conference, contributing to dialogue on student governance, youth policy, and civic responsibility. The collaboration helps expand student participation in national youth platforms and fosters leadership competencies aligned with future employability. Participation ensures that BHOS students contribute to national discussions on inclusive youth policy, advancing multi-stakeholder engagement.


3. Leadership & Innovation Development – “Azad Mirzajanzade” Program
Together with the Regional Development Public Union, BHOS organized an info session for the Azad Mirzajanzade Development Program, offering coaching, project-development support, and leadership training. Participants receive mentoring to design and implement community-impact projects, helping them develop problem-solving and innovation skills. The program expands equitable access to development opportunities, especially for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
4. International Youth Diplomacy – NAM Youth Week Participation
A BHOS student represented the university at NAM Youth Week, coordinated by NAMYO and RDPU. Participants engaged in global discussions on peace, cooperation, and youth diplomacy. This participation strengthens intercultural dialogue and helps position BHOS students within global youth-policy networks. It also deepens the university’s role in international peace-building initiatives and contributes to shaping youth-driven development agendas

5. Youth Leadership & Global Volunteerism – AIESEC NatCo 2025
BHOS students excelled at the AIESEC National Congress, winning first place in the Hackathon category on global volunteerism. The event equipped students with practical skills in teamwork, innovation, and project design while enhancing their engagement in international volunteer programs. It strengthens BHOS’s contribution to developing globally competitive young professionals and expanding international youth networks.

6. BHOS Hosts International Climate Law Conference during COP29
Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) of SOCAR hosted the “ELSA International Conference on Climate Change and Energy Law” as an official academic side event of COP29, bringing together students, researchers, legal experts, civil society representatives, and policy practitioners to discuss climate governance, energy transition law, and sustainable development frameworks. This conference strengthened BHOS’s role as a platform for cross-sectoral dialogue between academia, government representatives, international climate institutions, and youth organizations, supporting knowledge exchange and policy awareness aligned with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 7 (Clean Energy), SDG 16 (Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

7. BHOS Debate Club Launches Public Education Session with Civil Society Partners
The Debate Club of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) held its first open information session titled “What is Debate?” aimed at introducing students to the principles of constructive dialogue, critical thinking, and ethical argumentation.
The session was delivered in partnership with the “Debate in Civil Society” Public Union, an active non-governmental organization specializing in youth civic education and leadership development. NGO representatives introduced participants to debate formats, communication ethics, teamwork skills, and evidence-based reasoning techniques essential for responsible public engagement.
