BHOS Advances Sustainability through Education, Research & Global Partnerships

Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) continues to strengthen its contribution to sustainable development through a diverse portfolio of international cooperation, community engagement, leadership training, and academic excellence. Throughout the year, BHOS hosted and participated in a wide range of activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting clean energy transitions, climate action, environmental awareness, social inclusion, peace building, and youth research development.

Working with global university networks, civil society organizations, government agencies, and industry partners, BHOS provides educational platforms that empower students, staff, and wider communities to address environmental challenges, technological innovation, gender inclusion, and global sustainability governance.

1. BHOS Participates in WEUN Secretariat Meetings (Beijing)

BHOS presented its sustainability research agenda at the Worldwide Energy University Network meetings, strengthening cooperation in joint academic programs, mobility, energy research, and summer schools supporting SDGs 4, 7, 13, and 17.

 

2. Sustainable Development Week – Accelerating the Energy Transition

An international training program hosted with China University of Petroleum explored clean energy, bioenergy, and AI-driven sustainability solutions, with sessions led by specialists from SOCAR Green, BP, and the Ministry of Ecology (SDGs 7, 9, 12, 13).

3. BHOS Students at Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit (Poland)

Female students represented BHOS at one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation summits, advancing women’s participation in STEM leadership and international collaboration (SDGs 5, 8, 17).

 

4. BHOS Participation in Green Energy Summer School (Uzbekistan)

A BHOS master’s student completed advanced training on renewable energy management and ecological protection alongside European and Central Asian peers (SDGs 7, 12, 13).

 

5. “Green Knowledge for Children” Book Launch

BHOS hosted a public environmental awareness event for schoolchildren and educators, promoting early education on climate responsibility and sustainability through community engagement (SDGs 4, 12, 13).

 

 

6. SOCAR “Energy Leaders” Program – Sustainability Module

BHOS staff participated in the national leadership academy focusing on sustainable management, ESG integration, and corporate responsibility development (SDGs 4, 8, 12).

 

7. International Seminar on Universities and Peace

Hosted jointly with BSUN and the World Academy of Arts and Science, this high-level seminar addressed peacebuilding, climate security, and sustainable development governance across the Black Sea region (SDGs 16, 17).

 

8. 6th International Conference of Students & Young Researchers

BHOS welcomed researchers from 12 countries under themes including Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, INFOTECH 2025, and Energy & Geology, strengthening youth-led science for sustainable innovation (SDGs 4, 7, 9, 13).
