The Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS) has hosted panel discussions of the International Youth Forum “Supporting Environmental Policy through Young Leaders”, organized in Baku with the aim of providing international public support for COP29.
Before the start of the discussions with the participation of young people from 18 countries, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov gave a keynote speech. In his speech, the rector emphasized that Baku Higher Oil School always attaches special importance to environmental issues. He noted that the territory of the university campus had been completely greened. Elmar Gasimov provided the participants with detailed information about Baku Higher Oil School, emphasizing that BHOS is chosen by applicants who have shown the best results in the entrance exams.
"This year, BHOS once again became the first in the country in terms of university admission results. Although Azerbaijan is an oil exporting country, the transition to green energy is also one of the priority issues for it. A lot of work is being done in this direction.
Then, Chairman of the Public Association "Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization" Asif Asgarli thanked Baku Higher Oil School for providing a venue for panel discussions.
The panel discussions covered topics such as the global environment, climate change issues and methods to address these issues, expanding environmental volunteering, promoting green peace and “green participation” cooperation, opportunities for exchange and networking, international public support for COP29, and expanding Azerbaijan's global activities for a green world.
The International Youth Forum is held with the financial support of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organizational support of the Public Association "Azerbaijan Democratic Student and Youth Organization" and the partnership of the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
