BHOS hosts opening of International Scientific Conferences

The Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS) has hosted the opening ceremony of the V International Student Research and Science Conferences dedicated to the 101st birth anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The conference was attended by SOCAR Vice President Ziba Mustafayeva, SOCAR Chief Communications Officer Aygun Huseynova and other officials.

Opening the event with a keynote speech, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov said that “the scientific conferences have been held at the international level for five years, a number of innovations have been implemented at this year's conferences, and these conferences are distinguished by the quality and scale of organization, as well as the number of international universities participating in them.”

“A total of 517 theses were submitted to this year's conferences, 384 of which were accepted. 58 theses were submitted by 7 educational institutions from 6 countries. A total of 55 institutions submitted theses.”

Elmar Gasimov emphasized that training and supporting young scientists is an important mission of Baku Higher Oil School and that the conferences make a great contribution to attracting Azerbaijani youth to scientific and research activities.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Farhad Hajiyev emphasized the importance of the scientific conferences in terms of creating new opportunities for youth. Farhad Hajiyev stressed that the Ministry is ready to provide any support in organizing and holding scientific conferences.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector of Sumgayit State University Rufat Azizov emphasized the importance of the scientific conferences, traditionally held at Baku Higher Oil School, in terms of increasing the interest of youth in scientific research.

Following the speeches, Chingiz Gadzhiev, a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student at BHOS, gave a presentation on the topic of research.

The V International Student Research and Science Conferences cover topics such as “Towards Sustainable Chemistry and Chemical Engineering”, “INFOTECH 2024”, “Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering”. 

The conferences will wrap up on May 1.
