Baku Higher Oil School hosted the opening ceremony of the Final Stage of the XIII Republican Competition ‘Scientists of Tomorrow’
On April 17, Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted the opening ceremony of the Final Stage of the XIII Republican Competition "Scientists of Tomorrow".
The event started with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Indira Hajiyeva, MPs, senior employees of media outlets and private companies, and other guests.
Deputy Director of the Institute of Education, project director Fuad Garayev opened the event with a keynote speech. He presented a report on the statistical indicators of the competition. Fuad Garayev gave detailed information about the registered, accepted and evaluated projects in 8 directions. It was noted that “113 of the 652 registered projects have been qualified to participate in the exhibition.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev greeted the gathering and wished success to the participants of the competition. The minister emphasized that “the interest in the competition, which has been held since 2012, is increasing year by year across the country” and that “the competition plays an important role in revealing the knowledge and skills of modern-minded and creative young people and their formation as world-class researchers.”
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Indira Hajiyeva wished success to the project finalists. She said that “great achievements are being made in improving the quality of projects.”
Then, a video about the competition was shown.
After the official part of the event, the guests got acquainted with the handiworks of the finalists.
It should be noted that during the next 2 days, the pupils' research projects covering 8 areas (mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, medicine and health, ecology and environmental management, engineering, computer science) will be evaluated. In addition, the pupils selected from among the winners will represent our country at the exhibition that will be held in the United States.
The purpose of the competition is to identify talented pupils with scientific research and creative potential, to develop their critical thinking, problem solving, time management, public speaking and communication skills, to expand relations between higher education institutions, scientific organizations and secondary schools, and to enable pupils to network with peers with similar interests.
