‘IT Hub Azerbaijan’ project finalized
The “IT Hub Azerbaijan” project, implemented jointly by the Fourth Industrial Revolution Analysis and Coordination Center (4SIM Azerbaijan / C4IR Azerbaijan), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the nonprofit organization “StrategEast”, has been finalized.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the project, the rector of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) Elmar Gasimov, the executive director of 4SIM Fariz Jafarov, the chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis Tahir Mirkishili, the head of the Baku Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Natali Muravidze, the founder and president of StrategEast Anatoly Motkin and the representative of the training company “EPAM Systems” Alexander Yazepchik emphasized that the "IT Hub Azerbaijan" project has made an important contribution to the training of ICT personnel. It was noted that the purpose of the “IT Hub Azerbaijan” project is to increase knowledge and skills in the field of information technologies in the regions, to attract investments in this area, and to create new jobs and career opportunities.
As part of the project, 85 people aged 19-30 from Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Mingachevir, Shirvan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have participated in free IT trainings over the last 11 months. International experts from EPAM Systems have conducted online classes on computer science, programming, business analysis and other topics. Young people who have successfully completed the program are expected to be employed in local and foreign companies in our country.
Within the framework of the event, training sessions on "Professional branding", "CV preparation" and "Preparation for a job interview" were held for the graduates of the "IT Hub Azerbaijan" project and a group of BHOS students.
After the sessions, the participants attended the Career Fair organized at the Bibiheybat Campus of Baku Higher Oil School. In total, about 60 organizations, including SOCAR, JOCAP, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, Central Bank, Innovation Agency, Pasha Bank, ABB, Azericard, Ultra, AzInTelekom, Smart Solutions, Azfen, Azerconnect, Access Bank, Express Bank, Yelo Bank, İctimai TV and other leading local and foreign companies and public agencies, participated in the Career Fair named “IT HUB Azerbaijan - Future work, change the future!”
Final-year students and graduates attending the Career Fair were informed about ICT vacancies, internship programs and career opportunities in technology, finance, industry, digital commerce, programming, energy, cyber security, media, and dozens of other fields. A total of about 1,000 young people, including students and graduates of Baku Higher Oil School, Baku State University, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, Azerbaijan Technical University, ADA University, Khazar University and Economics University participated in the Career Fair. About 500 jobs and various internship programs were offered to the fair participants.
It should be noted that these measures were implemented towards the formation of the "Science-industry cluster 4.0" within the framework of the Socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022─2026.
