SOCAR delegation visits People’s Republic of China
On November 13-17, 2023, the delegation of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) visited the People's Republic of China.
The delegation first toured the History Museum and laboratory of the China University of Petroleum (CUP).
At the meeting with CUP Rector Prof. Wu Xiaolin and teaching staff of the China University of Petroleum, it was emphasized that thanks to the joint efforts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, the relations between the two countries are successfully developing in various areas, including in the field of science and education, based on the principles of friendship and mutual trust.
The SOCAR representatives noted that the foundation for strong relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China was laid by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and these relations are developing on an ascending line. They also provided their Chinese counterparts with detailed information about the series of events dedicated to the National Leader, which were held by the company in various spheres in 2023, declared the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in Azerbaijan.
The current state and further prospects of cooperation between Baku Higher Oil School and the China University of Petroleum were discussed at the meeting. The importance of implementing joint activities in the field of renewable energy and artificial intelligence was emphasized. It was also noted at the meeting that the Chinese students who took part in the experience exchange program, which was realized at Baku Higher Oil School, returned to their country with positive impressions from participating in this program.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement with the China University of Petroleum, which provides for joint research activities, exchange of teachers, students, educational and scientific materials, and organization of scientific forums and conferences. It was especially noted that the agreement will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between the two universities.
Then, the ceremony of opening an exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the China University of Petroleum was held. At the opening of the exhibition, which featured rare photos reflecting the high attention paid by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the development of the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan, it was noted that thanks to the visionary and wise policy of the National Leader, sound foundations were laid for the sustainable development of the country in all areas. The event highlighted the important role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's energy strategy in the comprehensive development of the Republic. It was emphasized that the Great Leader had always shown genuine care and concern for the oil workers of Azerbaijan. It was also noted that the organizing of such an exhibition in the People's Republic of China testifies to the boundless respect bestowed by the friendly Chinese people to the National Leader of Azerbaijan.
As part of the visit, the delegation also toured the Beijing Exhibition Centre of Huawei Company and held a bilateral meeting with the leadership of the company.
At the meeting, the importance of the computer network laboratory to be established at BHOS with the support of Huawei Academy was emphasized, and the future activities of the laboratory equipped with modern equipment were discussed. It was also noted that Baku Higher Oil School has been successfully cooperating with China's leading information technology company Huawei since 2019.
The delegation thanked the leadership of Huawei for the launching for the first time in Azerbaijan of Huawei IT Academy, which offers courses on various IT modules to BHOS teachers and students. They also expressed confidence that cooperation will develop further in the future.
