Pakistani graduate of Baku Higher Oil School: ‘I recommend BHOS to Pakistani young people’

Ali Hasnain Meeran graduated this year from the Petroleum Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School of SOCAR (BHOS). He comes from Lahore, the second largest city of Pakistan. Ali Meeran, who was one of the most active foreign students of BHOS, participated in various projects, learned the Azerbaijani language, and visited several regions of our country.

The BHOS graduate, who has received a job offer from Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), one of the largest companies in Pakistan, says that studying at Baku Higher Oil School was an invaluable experience for him:

“I spent glorious 4 years there. Baku Higher Oil School is like a large family. There is a wide range of options available to students at this university. Studying at BHOS broadened my horizons beyond what I could have imagined. Baku Higher Oil School offers advantages that will benefit a person for life. BHOS guides students to excel in higher education and to achieve their goals in life. I learned a lot there not only from the textbooks but also from the people I met. The friendships I made at this university were a source of joy and support for me. My communication with the teachers really benefited and enriched me a lot. They not only gave me knowledge but also inspired me to strive for excellence. Their guidance and encouragement was instrumental in my academic journey. Having graduated from BHOS, I took with me not only a degree, but also a treasure trove of memories, experiences and friendships that will stay with me forever. I thank everyone who participated in this wonderful chapter of my life."

Sharing his impressions about Baku and regions of Azerbaijan, the Pakistani graduate said that he loves most of the dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine, especially dolma and shah pilaf, and he also likes local sweets, especially shakerbura.

“Icherisheher and Nizami street were my favorite places in Baku, and I loved to walk there. I also visited Guba, Gabala, Sheki and Shusha, where I participated in various events. I attended a summer camp in Sheki. Visiting Shusha was one of the most beautiful trips for me. There I participated in the event held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. I was one of several foreign students who were at the event attended by students from various universities, and I was the only one from BHOS. I got a great impression from the weeklong trip to Shusha. We visited the Cidir Plain, Vagif Mausoleum and Shusha Fortress. It was a great experience for me”.

Ali Meeran says that he will miss his friends and teachers very much and plans to come back to Azerbaijan soon.

"I have very good friends in Azerbaijan. I want to see them and my teachers again. I promised Rector Elmar Gasimov that I would come again soon. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the rector for the help I received during the 4 years of my study at BHOS and the care and support he provided to the foreign students. This is also a message to my friends and acquaintances in Pakistan. The culture and educational environment there is great. I advise them to take advantage of this experience."
