Teacher of Baku Higher Oil School - Azerbaijani of Russian descent and Karabakh War veteran

Petr Anatolyevich Kuvshinov is an Azerbaijani of Russian descent. He is a Karabakh War veteran, professional swimmer and a water polo player. Pyotr Kuvshinov works as a senior teacher at the Physical Education Department of Baku Higher Oil School.  

As a true patriot of his Motherland, Kuvshinov participated in the First Karabakh War, fought for the liberation of Azerbaijani lands. He voluntarily went to the front and took part in intense battles in 1992-1994. Kuvshinov fought in the hottest spots of the war - Aghdara, Lachin, Kalbajar, Murovdag, Fizuli, Aghdam and Tartar. While participating in the intense battles for Murovdag, Kuvshinov was appointed a regiment commander. He was wounded several times during the war. Pyotr Kuvshinov was awarded orders and medals for his heroism.

Kuvshinov’s name is also known to many as “Savior”. Two years ago, he saved two people from drowning in the Caspian Sea.

Pyotr Kuvshinov, who was a champion of the Armed Forces of the USSR, champion and medalist of Azerbaijan and a champion of Russia in water polo, led the Azerbaijani national water polo team at the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games.

Kuvshinov is highly respected by every member of the BHOS family. He is a professional teacher and at the same time is an all-time favorite of the staff and students.

He diligently teaches the secrets of swimming to his students. Pyotr, who lives by the principle of “a sound mind in a sound body", has managed to instill a love for swimming in BHOS students.
