Rectors Conference in Azerbaijan project
An online presentation of the “Rectors' Conference in Azerbaijan” project, the winner of the grant competition “Capacity Building in Higher Education”, coordinated by the Baku Business University, has been held within the European Commission's Erasmus + program.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Education, the leadership of the EU delegation in Azerbaijan, the Magna Charta observation group, representatives of the European University Association, the French Center for International Education, the European Organization for Management Development (Belgium), representatives of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, the leadership and authorized representatives of the Conference of Rectors of Spain, Poland, France, Portugal, Lithuania, Finland, ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the USA, Poland, France and Lithuania accredited in our country, representatives of the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), rectors and heads of 15 universities of Azerbaijan, as well as other influential and responsible persons.
Baku Higher Oil School is one of the local partners of the project for establishing the Council of Rectors in Azerbaijan. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the project, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov congratulated the Baku Business University on receiving the grant and wished it success in the further development of the project.
At the event, detailed information was provided about the work to be done in 3 years and the benefits expected from the project.
Rector of the Baku Business University, Doctor of Economics, Professor Ibad Abbasov, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov delivered opening speeches at the ceremony.
Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas stressed the importance of the project in terms of its international significance and contribution to the development of higher education institutions. He expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the project.
Representatives of the European University Association and the Conference of Rectors of Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Portugal and Spain expressed their views on the “Rectors' Conference in Azerbaijan” project and shared their European experience.
Rectors and heads of Azerbaijani universities, as well as the head of the National Erasmus+ Office in Azerbaijan, also spoke at the ceremony.
They stressed the need to establish closer cooperation between universities in the modern education system, where new challenges are being observed, and expressed confidence that the project will yield positive results in this direction.
