Student of Baku Higher Oil School enters list of 15 best speakers

Ayten Sadirova, a 2nd year student of the Process Automation Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) represented BHOS at the Azerbaijan stage of the International Public Speaking Competition 2020.


Ayten Sadirova reached the final of the competition after being selected from among 50 contestants. She entered the list of 15 best public speakers.


Speaking about the competition, Ayten Sadirova noted that it helps participants improve fluency in the English language, develop communication skills, meet intellectual people, and to understand and apply the most important public speaking skills.


“During the two-stage competition, effective trainings on the topic “How to become a good public speaker” were held twice. After the jury had selected the first finalist, who scored 91.5 points for spontaneous speech, I began to prepare for a presentation on the topic ‘Now or later?’ During my speech, I spoke about the importance of timely resolution of urgent problems. I think that this presentation was one of the most exciting events in my life,” she said.


Director of the Azerbaijan branch of the International Public Speaking School Kanan Mammadov said that young people aged 16-20 took part in the competition. He thanked BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov for the support provided in the organization of the competition.
Fifteen participants of the competition were awarded with honorary certificates.


The Azerbaijan Public Speaking Competition (APSC), organized by the International Public Speaking School, is an educational program that trains future leaders and public speakers using international experience.


Within the framework of the program, various activities, including trainings, contests and summer schools, are held in nine different directions to develop presentation, communication and public speaking skills of children teenagers and young people. 


APSC is a recognized partner of the English-Speaking Union (ESU), a UK-based organization with over 100 years of experience. In the framework of cooperation, the winners are annually sent to London to participate in the international competition.
