Baku Higher Oil School hosts next presentation of BPs Skills Refinery Program
Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted the next presentation of the Skills Refinery Program, which is BP's global online portal aimed at expanding employment opportunities for students.
The presentation was held by Recruiting Consultants at BP Mehriban Shikhzamanova, Sabina Valieva and Personnel Specialist at BP Leyla Salekhli.
The main purpose of the presentation was to help students acquire skills that are necessary for achieving success in an ever-changing world and to help them adapt their knowledge and abilities to the needs of the future.
Speaking at the event, Recruiting Consultant at BP Mehriban Shikhzamanova said that the Skills Refinery provides students with the opportunity to test and develop their abilities in five skills areas – critical problem solving, innovation, influence and communication, cognitive flexibility and emotional intelligence. The program allows the participants to test themselves, progress their skills by using interactive quizzes and track their own progress.
4th year students of the Petroleum Engineering Department of BHOS, Joshkun Samedov and Jahid Suleymanov, who became the international winners of the Skills Refinery Program last year, shared with the students their impressions of the program and told them about the experience and new skills they have acquired. The winners invited BHOS students to take part in this program.
A graduate of the Chemical Engineering Department of BHOS, Ahmed Galandarli, who currently works at BP, spoke about how his work experience helped him achieve success in life. Speaking about the trainings organized within the program, he noted that it is important for students to use maximum of opportunities offered by Skills Refinery.
The presentation concluded with a Q & A session.
To add to the sense of competition and excitement, an international competition will be launched for members of the Skills Refinery. Students will be asked to form teams to compete via video submission at a national level competition. Winners of the competition will participate in the international competition, which will be presided by a jury of experts from BP Head Office.
