The main purpose of the meeting was to establish effective cooperation between BHOS and Tenaris and to discuss future prospects.

Welcoming the guests, BHOS Vice-Rector for Training and Science Zafar Gurbanov said that Baku Higher Oil School is the first English-language technical university in the country, which conducts training in conjunction with the UK’s Heriot-Watt University under a double diploma program.

The vice-rector noted that every year the majority of high school graduates who have scored the highest points in the first group choose to study at Baku Higher Oil School and that each year the school occupies one of the leading places in the country in the number of presidential scholars.

“Baku Higher Oil School has established effective cooperation with a number of local and international companies in the country. Favorable conditions have been created for students to undergo practical training at these companies. BHOS students are participating in international exchange programs,” he added.

Zafar Gurbanov also informed the guests about research projects carried out by the school together with international companies and universities.

Director General for the Caspian Region at Tenaris Alessandro D'Angelo thanked the leadership of BHOS for the warm welcome. Alessandro D'Angelo noted that Azerbaijan is a country with rich oil and gas resources.

“The works on transportation of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Italy through the Adriatic Sea via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline are important for both countries from a strategic point of view. Tenaris is also involved in these activities as a producer and supplier of gas pipelines,” he said.

The director general also noted that Tenaris is cooperating with a number of organizations in Azerbaijan, and that this year the company intends to establish cooperation with the country's leading engineering university - Baku Higher Oil School.

“Our company has a corporate university platform. Every year, engineering students from different universities around the world participate in our scholarship, exchange and internship programs. Upon completion of the training on pipeline production, students receive a certificate. I think that your students will benefit a lot from participating in our programs,” Alessandro D'Angelo added.
