Representatives of Boston Consulting Group at Baku Higher Oil School
Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted a meeting with representatives of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) which was attended by Sergey Parapechka, BCG Partner and Managing Director, Sergey Khaliulin, BCG Project Manager, Movlud Mohbali, Senior Advisor, the Department of Innovative Development and E-Government, Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the BHOS academic and teaching staff.
The discussion focused on sub-item 2.2 of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on ensuring coordination in innovative development in the Republic of Azerbaijan’ (No. 881; dated 10 January 2019) and, as part of ongoing research and analysis within drafting a national Innovation Strategy, encouraged an exchange of opinions and ideas concerning the BHOS initiatives in innovation and research and development (R&D).
Rector of BHOS Elmar Gasimov laid particular stress on highly effective partnerships forged with numerous national and transnational companies operating in the country and, as a transition to the next phase of this partnership, scaling up joint research and establishing joint R&D laboratories. While emphasizing the role of these labs and similar centres as a platform for R&D and implementing new ideas, Rector expressed his hope that higher schools by using this approach will significantly contribute to boosting national innovation potential and its further development.
BCG Partner and Managing Director Sergey Parapechka pointed that the meeting aimed for reviewing cooperation between higher education institutions and industry in the area of innovative development, and praised initiatives undertaken by BHOS to foster innovation and development.
