Baku Higher Oil School cooperates with IBM

Elmar Gasimov, the Rector of Baku Higher Oil School met with David La Rose, General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at IBM, as well as Ilya Kravtsov, Head of IBM Office in Azerbaijan and Bahadur Ibrahimov, the Associate Partner.

Welcoming the guests the Rector expressed his pleasure of hosting them at BHOS. Briefing on the activities of the school he noted that the medium of instruction at BHOS was English and the school admitted the top national students with the highest points scored at the university entrance examinations. Underlying that BHOS applied the curriculum of Herriot-Watt University the Rector spoke about the programmes offered by the school and expressed his assurance that BHOS graduates would make a good career at various national and international companies.

Mr. Gasimov noted that the students had summer internship opportunities at a number of transnational companies such as BP, Statoil, Emerson, Total, etc., while their experts were involved in teaching at BHOS. He also briefed about active involvement and support of the companies in a number of conferences organized by the Students Scientific Union which had a significant motivational aspect for the students emphasizing that a wide range of opportunities existed for collaboration between BHOS and IBM.

Mr. La Rose extended his gratitude for the warm welcome and spoke about the activities of IBM expressing his interest in establishing partnership with BHOS.

The meeting continued with discussion of issues of mutual interest and cooperation perspectives.
