Global problems of Entropy and Ecoenergy discussed at Baku Higher Oil School

Synergy Scientific Discussions Club of Baku Higher Oil School hold a public session entitled “Entropy Law and Global Ecoenergy Problems”. The session attended by the BHOS and other national universities’ students and teachers was led by the Club’s Scientific Coordinator, Professor of the Petroleum Engineering Department, Honored Teacher Fuad Valiyev.

Opening the gathering, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov said that questions related to energy consumption are important not only for Azerbaijan, but for many countries around the world. He also informed that the Higher School works on a number of projects aimed to diminish the adverse environmental impact of energy sector and industrial development to contribute to sustainable development and address ecoenergy problems.

In his presentation, Professor Fuad Veliyev highlighted the issue on increased consumption of the world’s energy resources due to growing population. Having analyzed the data on climate changes, he spoke about the danger of the global energy deficit and its consequences. In the speaker’s words, rapid industrial development, world population growth and the rates of natural resources extraction might lead to global energy depletion, which can be prevented by their rational utilization. “We need to realize that Earth might cease to exist as a self-regulating ecosystem, but this danger can be avoided by the global sustainable development”, he said.

The presentation was followed by a discussion. At the end, the speaker answered the session participants’ questions.

The Synergy scientific discussion club has been set up at BHOS upon an initiative of Professor Fuad Veliyev. Its main objective is to inform students, teachers and young specialists about new scientific achievements and challenges and to help them improve their discussion skills. It also aims to raise the participants’ interest in research and scientific activities.
