BHOS celebrates Day of the State Flag of Azerbaijan

        Baku Higher Oil School hosted a special event to celebrate the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was attended by the BHOS professors, teachers, students and administrative staff members. Opening the gathering, Vice-rector for Administrative and General Service Affairs Dr. Oktay Rzayev said that this holiday dates back to the glorious history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. He also emphasized that this year the country celebrates 100th anniversary of the Flag of Azerbaijan, one of the national symbols of the republic sovereignty and independence.

 

          Associate professor of BHOS English Language and Humanitarian Disciplines Centre, PhD in history Alamdar Shahverdiyev delivered a report on the notions of motherland and flag in the Turkic tradition. He also reminded that the state flag was first adopted by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on November 9, 1918. Then third-year Chemical Engineering students Agagardash Jamalov, Rashid Abbasov and Elnur Rasulov made a presentation about Azerbaijani flag at various stages of the country history including the periods before and after 1918.
