Representative of USA Embassy visits Baku Higher Oil School

          Deputy Economic Section Chief of the United States Embassy in Azerbaijan Michael Rousek and Economic Advisor of the US Embassy Yusif Abbasov visited Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) and met with the BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov. Having welcomed the guests, he told about School of Project Management (SPM) at the Higher School administered by BHOS in cooperation with the George Washington University (GWU), USA. SPM teaching program is based on the GWU curriculum and the graduates receive Master certificates from the university, said the rector. Elmar Gasimov told about those BHOS graduates who became Master or PhD students at Stanford University, Louisiana State University and Colorado School of Mines in the USA. In his words, BHOS prepares engineers for various industrial sector and increases the number of specialties taught at the Higher School. This academic year we started to train information security specialists for the very first time and the next year we shall announce admission of Electrical and Electronic Engineering students, told the Rector.

 

           Deputy Economic Section Chief of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan Michael Rousek extended his gratitude to the Rector Elmar Gasimov for the warm reception and noted that BHOS became the first national higher educational institution he visited after he commenced his work in Azerbaijan. In Michael Rousek’s words, the Embassy is ready to cooperate with the Baku Higher Oil School in the frame of the US Embassy programs aimed at support of educational projects and initiatives in the country. In addition, we can arrange training courses on energy security and energy geopolitics for the BHOS students, he said.

 

           At the meeting, other opportunities for, bilateral cooperation were discussed. They include, among others, meetings with, and workshops by, managers and experts of American companies operating in oil&gas and energy sectors. Within the visit, the guests were familiarized with the Higher School campus and its facilities.
