Teachers of the Month awarded at Baku Higher Oil School
Baku Higher Oil School hosted an award ceremony for the winners of Teacher of the Month contest, which was conducted by AzEdu.az educational portal under the title “1st (probation) stage of test exams for teachers recruitment: comments and suggestions.” The event was attended by BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov, Deputies of Milli Majlis Mahir Abbaszada, Musa Gasimli, Sevinj Guseynova and Shahin Ismaylov, Vice Rector of Baku Engineering University Elchin Suleymanov, writer Elkhan Elatly and the contest participants.
Opening the ceremony, the Rector Elmar Gasimov emphasized that this initiative should raise young teachers’ interest in their profession and encourage them to enhance their skills and capacities. Having reminded the words of the national leader Heydar Aliyev who said, “I do not know more honorable title than the title of a teacher”, he noted that teaching indeed is the most esteemed profession. Elmar Gasimov extended his congratulations to the contest winners and expressed his gratitude to the AzEdu.az portal for implementation of this socially significant project.
Manager of the AzEdu.az educational portal, Chairperson of Azerbaijan`s Parliamentary Journalists Union Elshad Eyvazli thanked the BHOS Rector for the organizational support. He informed that the contest aimed to draw attention to the problems experienced by schoolteachers especially those working in remote regions and seek their opinion on the issues related to further development of the school education. Then Elshad Eyvazli announced the names of the contest winners.
Speaking at the award ceremony, members of the Committee on Youth and Sports of the Milli Majlis Mahir Abbaszada, Musa Gasimli and Sevinj Guseynova, member of the Committee on Science and Education of the Milli Majlis Shahin Ismayilov, Vice Rector of Baku Engineering University Elchin Suleymanov and writer Elkhan Elatly congratulated the winners and wished them every success. Then the Teachers of the Month were awarded prizes; additionally, those contest participants who took first three places received special memorable gifts.
Ten out of all articles submitted for the contest were selected for the final stage by a jury of experts. These works were placed at the AzEdu.az website to be assessed in an open voting. More than 46,000 persons participated in the voting. According to its results, the teacher of the secondary school of Istisu village of Imayilli district Majid Musayev took the first place (41.3 per cent of the votes). The teacher of the secondary school №84 of Kelbajar district Shahana Iskenderova and the teacher of the secondary school of Buzlug village of Goranboy district Araz Hajiyev took second and third places (23.8 per cent and 18.2 per cent of the votes respectively).
