Baku Higher Oil School to cooperate with UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education

Rector of Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) Elmar Gasimov has met with Chief Executive Officer of the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), Vicki Stott, and Director of International and Professional Services at QAA, Stephanie Sandford.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on Baku Higher Oil Schools’ programs for various specialties and on the compliance of these programs with 10 standards set by the European Commission for Education. The sides also discussed the prospects for future cooperation between BHOS and QAA in developing curricula and enhancing the student experience.

As part of this cooperation, BHOS will join QAA’s international membership program, and students and teachers of the university will be able to use QAA’s resources created specifically for higher education institutions. At the same time, BHOS teachers and students will be able to participate in conferences and trainings held by QAA.

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is the independent body that checks on standards and quality in UK higher education. QAA checks how universities, colleges and alternative providers of UK higher education maintain their academic standards and quality. It does this through external peer review. Reviewers check that the core expectations of the Quality Code, agreed and recognized by the UK higher education sector, are met. In addition to its role in sustaining the reputation of UK higher education, QAA also regulates the Access to Higher Education Diploma, a qualification that enables individuals without A Levels or the usual equivalent to enter higher education.
